ABO – The Odyssey

A Billionaire’s Odyssey is loosely based on The Odyssey by Homer, in which Odysseus is attempting to return home after the Trojan War. The Sirens tempt him, and the Cyclops captures him. Meanwhile, Penelope, Odysseus’s wife, waits patiently for him while suitors attempt to take control of his wealth.

In A Billionaire’s Odyssey, Roland is on a voyage of self-discovery in an RV. He is tempted by Vivian, a seductress, and he is first blackmailed and then kidnapped by gangsters. Meanwhile, Lillian, his ex-wife, grieves over her lost love while a variety of men attempt to seduce her for her wealth.

And that’s where the comparison ends. In truth, the title A Billionaire’s Odyssey was an afterthought when the novel was complete, and I was struggling to find a better title. It took a discussion with my wife Lois and our friend Maureen for me to see the similarity with The Odyssey and settle on including “Odyssey” in the title.
